Parlette earns All-Great Lakes Region

ANDERSON, IN – Sophomore Jenna Parlette (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) earned All-Great Lakes Region honors Saturday as the Wilmington cross country teams competed in the Great Lakes region meet at Anderson University. (Results)
Parlette, who has been the Lady Quakers’ top runner all season long, finished the 6K course in a time of 22:50.28. She placed 32nd and the top 35 runners earned all-region honors. As a team, Wilmington was 22nd of 33 teams.
Senior Brittany Gibbons (Pleasant Plain, OH/Blanchester) finished 86th in the time of 24:10.71, senior Karlee Michel (Alexandria, OH/Johnstown Monroe) was 136th with a time of 25:09.46, freshman Mary Krebs (Kettering, OH/Archbishop Alter) was 151st with a time of 25:27.82 and senior Annie Cekada (Mineral Point, PA/Cambria Central) rounded out the WC scoring with a 173rd place finish in 26:04.90.
“The girls gave a pretty good effort,” said WC head coach Ron Combs.
Junior Brad Kline was the top men’s placer, completing the 8K course in the time of 26:39.70 – good for 74th place. The Quakers finished 22nd of 37 teams.
“The men, for whatever reason, didn’t have a good day,” said Combs. “Not sure why, I thought we could be a top 10 team.”
Sophomore Myles Corcoran (Wilmington, OH/Clinton-Massie) was the second Quaker across the line, finishing 88th in 26:51.06, followed by sophomore Rob King (Washington Court House, OH/Miami Trace) in 130th place in 27:27.95, junior Alek Erwin (South Vienna, OH/Northeastern) 132nd in 27:30.99 and Jacob Boehm (Blanchester, OH/McNicholas) 163rd in 28:01.21.
