WILMINGTON – Sophomore Jenna Parlette (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) set a new personal best Friday at the 2012 Wilmington College Fall Classic placing ninth overall with a time of 18:39.12. She shaved four seconds off her previous high, set at this meet last season. (Women's results: PDF; HTML)
"She ran very well today and really stepped into our number one spot," said head coach Ron Combs. "We was fourth last year in a slower time, so it shows the quality of runners this season.
The Quakers finished ninth overall, third in Division III, out of 33 teams. Without having a runner finish in the top 10, Ashland was able to record the victory with all five runners placing in the top 22. Huntington was second, followed by Mount Union, Wooster and Findlay. University of the Cumberlands, Wright State, Hanover, Wilmington and Ohio Dominican rounded out the top 10.
"I was excited to see us bounce back from last week to get the mindset back at the Fall Classic," said Combs. "Always wanna run well at home. It cool with the President, the AD and family and friends. It was nice to get a test with half of the OAC."
Lindsey Wilson senior Sharon Ronoh set a new course record with a time of 17:11.45, beating the record of 18:04 she set last year.
"I had a feeling she would be break the record but I didn't think really to she would beat by that much," said Combs.
Sophomore Tricia Steffen was second for the Quakers, and 25th overall, in the time of 19:28. Senior Brittany Gibbons crossed the mat in 20:16 for a 75th place finish, while senior Karlee Michel finished in 20:34, good for a 95th place finish. The final Wilmington scorer was freshman Mary Ann Krebs, who finished 141st with a time of 21:05.
