GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Wilmington College sophomore Sarah Matthews narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships at Saturday’s Great Lakes Regional, hosted by Calvin College. As a team, Wilmington finished 22nd with 650 points. Calvin won the title in the 31-team event with 46 points.

Otterbein College breezed to the team title in the Wilmington College Fall Classic on the WC campus Friday afternoon. Otterbein won the 22-team event with 58 points. Franklin College was the runner-up with 134. Wilmington finished seventh overall with 187 points.

FRANKLIN, Ind. — What a difference a year makes. Last season, Wilmington College’s women’s cross country team finished fifth at Franklin College’s Grizzly Invitational. On Saturday, the Quakers put three runners in the top 10 to finish in a first-place tie with host Franklin in the six-team event.

The Wilmington College Women's Cross Country Team placed 21st at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet. The Lady Quakers hosted the meet at Voice of America Park in Mason, Ohio. The Big Red of Denison University placed first overall with 97 points, while Calvin College came in second with 105 points.
