WILMINGTON – The Wilmington College women’s basketball team has released their 2012-13 schedule. (Full Schedule)

Head coach Jerry Scheve’s squad jumps right into the fire as perennial National Title contender Hope College is a participant in the season-opening Hampton Inn/Damon’s Grill Tip-Off Tournament. A date with regional power DePauw follows and finally Presidents’ Athletic Conference co-favorite Saint Vincent visits Fred Raizk Arena at Hermann Court as part of the Fred Raizk Memorial Tournament.

After treading through the rigors of a tough non-conference slate, the Fightin’ Quakers starts December with its first Ohio Athletic Conference game, hosting Muskingum.

“The OAC is deeper than it has ever been,” said Scheve. “There are no easy games in our league. The non-conference schedule should certainly get us ready for those kind of challenges. Hope and DePauw are teams that challenge for the national championship every year. In fact both of those teams have prevented us from reaching the Final Four in previous years, and we may be playing them back-to-back the first week of the season.”

Wilmington takes a brief break from OAC action to travel to play Division I Youngstown State.

“We have faced Division I teams before in the preseason, and have always wanted to play a regular season game against a Division I team,” said Scheve. “Coach Boldon at Youngstown State is giving us that chance, and I know our players will be excited about that opportunity.

The Lady Quakers return all five starters from a team that suffered the program’s first losing team (13-14) in recent history.
