Hot shooting helps Lady Quakers to victory

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The
Wilmington College Quakers picked up their sixth straight win
with an 84-69 victory over Ohio Dominican
University in the second game of the Raymond James Financial Shootout
hosted by Franklin College.
The Lady Quakers hit 33-of-59 shots in the game for a blistering
55.9%. Courtney Balser (Pleasant Plain/Little Miami) scored a game-high
18 points for the victors.
The Lady Quakers never trailed in the game, as they opened an
11-point lead six and a half minutes into the game and grew to
as many as 16 in the half, as the Green and White went into the
locker room with an 11-point, 40-29 lead.
In the second half Ohio Dominican closed to within single digits
once, but the Lady Quaker attack was too much in the 15-point win.
Balser led the way with 18 points while Katie Streck (Dayton/Carroll)
scored 11 and Shawna Thomas (Middletown/Middletown) added 10. Siobhan
Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) pulled down 14 rebounds for the team
while Sam Hood (Lockbourne/Teays Valley) dished out six assists.
Ohio Dominican put four
players in double figure scoring, led by Krissy Haines’ 12
points while Brandy Caldwell and Tristin Miracle each scored
11 and Kelly Zunkiewicz scored 10.
With the win, the Lady Quakers improve to 8-1 overall while Ohio
Dominican falls to 8-5.
The next game for the Green and White is tomorrow, as the team
faces off against Franklin College in the final game of the Raymond
James Financial Shootout with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
