Zerilla sets rebounding record as Lady Quakers run past Heidelberg

Zerilla pulls down season-high 17 rebounds in victory

WILMINGTON -- Wilmington College senior forward Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) became the school’s all-time leading rebounder, as the Lady Quakers ran past Heidelberg 62-44 in Ohio Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The senior grabbed her third rebound of the game with 5:02 gone in the game, giving her 1,105 rebounds for her career, passing Linda Fittro, who had 1,104 in her career.

The Lady Quakers trailed just three times in the game, including with 11:47 to play in the first half before the Green and White opened a 7-0 run taking the lead to six two minutes later. The first half lead grew to as many as 12 in the period, as the host Lady Quakers went into the locker room with a 10-point, 35-25 advantage.

The Lady Quakers scored the first six points of the second half, as the team cruised to the 18-point, 62-44 victory.

The hosts used a balanced scoring attack, led by Zerilla’s 13 points while Jackie Hauke (Sardinia/Whiteoak) was the only other Lady Quaker in double figures with 10. Katie Streck (Dayton/Carroll) added eight points for the Lady Quakers, as 12 different players found the scoring column in the win. Zerilla pulled down a season high 17 rebounds, as the Lady Quakers out-rebounded the Student Princes 56-35 in the game.

Heidelberg put just one player in double figure scoring, as Holly Brodman scored 10 points, all in the first half, as Kyle Davison scored nine points in the loss.

With the win, the Lady Quakers improve to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the OAC while Heidelberg falls to 4-3 and 2-2 in league play.

The next game for the Lady Quakers is on December 18 as the team travels to Franklin, Indiana to face off against Ohio Dominican University in the second game of the Rayond James Financial Shootout hosted by Franklin College.
