TIFFIN, Ohio — Shortly after his squadıs 85-81 loss to Otterbein College Wednesday night, Wilmington College head coach Jerry Scheve said, "Weıll be back."

Theyıre back.

Fueled by a record-tying shooting performance from sophomore guard Jackie Hauke (Sardinia/Whiteoak), the Lady Quakers ripped Heidelberg College, 91-68, in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday.

"I was real happy with how we played today," Scheve said. "Heidelberg has always been a tough trip for us. Every time we come up here we donıt get off to a good start. Today, I thought we started well and really played probably our best game, overall, for 40 minutes. I donıt think we ever let up, and I was really pleased with that."

Hauke ripped the nets seven times from three-point country, tying Emily Cumminsı single-game record. Haukeıs career-high 21 points also tied her with sophomore forward Katie Streck (Dayton/Carroll) for team-high scoring honors. Junior post Kelly Peters (Spencerville/Spencerville) turned in her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and collecting 10 rebounds; junior forward Erica Smith (Union/Northmont) scored 13 points and junior point guard Sam Hood (Lockbourne/Teays Valley) handed out 12 assists and scored five points.

Hauke stroked four treys and Smith and Streck hit two each from long distance as Wilmington (6-2, 2-1 OAC) built a 44-31 halftime lead.

Heidelberg (5-2, 1-2 OAC) had its brightest moments early in the second half. After Peters scored to put WC up 46-31, the Berg whittled the Lady Quakersı lead to six when Brittany Skolnicki — who scored a game-high 24 points — hit a three-pointer at 15:57. But Hood hit a jumper and Hauke drilled a three and the Lady Quakers were off on a 25-7 run that ended with a 74-50 lead.

Senior guard Shawna Thomas (Middletown/Middletown) led a strong effort by the Wilmington bench. Thomas pulled down seven rebounds and scored two points. Junior Abby Newhouse (Florence, Ky./Boone County) collected six rebounds and scored two points and freshman Natasha Huckleby (Troy/Troy) contributed four rebounds and three points. Wilmington non-starters finished with 19 points and 23 rebounds.

"I thought our bench did a much better job today. I was really happy with their overall performance," Scheve said. "When I said we played well for 40 minutes today, thatıs what you need. We played 12 or 13 kids good minutes, and I think each one of them did well while they were in there."

After seven straight games at Fred Raizk Arena, Saturdayıs contest was the Lady Quakersı first road game of the season. Scheve said that even though his team enjoys the friendly home atmosphere, the road trip couldnıt have come at a better time.

"I was very happy to get on the road," Scheve said. "Being at home has some advantages, but going on the road does too. When youıre on the road youıre together longer, you can focus on exactly what youıre doing, and I think our kids did a great job of doing that today."

The Lady Quakers return to the OAC highway Dec. 17, with a 3 p.m. tip-off at Marietta. The Lady Pioneers fell to 3-6 overall, 0-3 in the OAC, with a 71-39 loss at Ohio Northern University Saturday.
