Lady Quakers win fourth straight, 68-56

Kincer leads three in double figures with 16

(WC Press Release) Tiffin, Ohio (December 6, 2003) -- The Wilmington College Quakers won their fourth straight game of the season, with this one coming by a 68-56 count over conference foe Heidelberg College on Saturday.

Amy Kincer (Englewood/Northmont) led the way for the team with 16 points while Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) pulled down 14 rebounds.

The Quakers and Student Princes traded baskets with Heidelberg come out on top 3-2 with just two minutes gone in the game. A 5-0 run by the Lady Quakers gave the visitors that they would not give up for the remainder of the game. The first half lead grew to as many as 11, and peaked at 14 in the second half in the 12-point win.

Kincer led all scorers with 16 points while Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) scored 13 and freshman Erica Smith (Englewood/Northmont) added 11 in the win. Zerilla pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds while Kincer and Rausch each had seven boards in the game. Rausch and Samantha Hood (Lockbourne/Teays Valley) each gave out three assists.

Heidelberg was led by Liza Simrell and Heidi Galm who each scored 14 points while Rachel Babione scored 11 points in the loss. Babione, Simrell and Galm each pulled down five rebounds to lead the hosts while Galm had a game-high four assists and four steals.

With the win the Lady Quakers improve to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the OAC while Heidelberg falls to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference action.

The next game for the Green and White is on Saturday, December 13 when the Lady Quakers host Baldwin-Wallace College with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m. at Fred Raizk Arena.
