Quakers use strong second half in seven-point win

Rausch leads Lady Quakers with 17 points

(WC Press Release) Columbus, OH (November 29, 2003) -- The Lady Quakers, behind 17 points from Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks), took home a 63-56 victory over a feisty Ohio Dominican squad.

The Lady Quakers and Ohio Dominican fought back and forth in the first half, before the Lady Quakers went into the locker room with a one-point, 26-25 lead.

Ohio Dominican came out in the second half and took a six-point lead with 15:27 to play before the visiting Lady Quakers used a 6-0 run of their own to tie the game at 29. The largest lead either team would get the rest of the way was seven, as the Lady Quakers escaped with a seven-point victory.

Leading the way for the Lady Quakers was Rausch who scored 17 points while Amy Kincer (Englewood/Northmont) scored 12 and Erica Smith (Union/Northmont) and Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) scored 9 and 8 points respectively. Zerilla pulled down a team-leading 11 rebounds while Emily Cummins (Springfield/Northwestern) and Smith each dished out a team-best two assists.

Leading the way for Ohio Dominican was Nicole Stone who scored 20 points while Amanda Lewis and Brandy Caldwell scored 12 and 11 points respectively. Caldwell had nine rebounds to lead the hosts while she and Tristin Miracle each had three assists in the loss.

The win improves the Lady Quakers to 3-1 overall while Ohio Dominican falls to 2-3.

The next game for the Green and White is on Saturday, December 6 when the team travels north to Tiffin, Ohio to face off against Heidelberg College in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both squads.
