Lady Quakers run past Thomas More 90-51

Wilmington, OH (November 22, 2002) -- The Wilmington College Lady Quakers, led by Megan Woodruff (New Vienna/East Clinton)'s 22 points defeated the Thomas More Saints 90-51 in the finals of the Damon's/Wilmington Inn Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Quakers opened the game on a tear, scoring the first 13 points of the game en-route to jumping out to a 13-0 lead four minutes into the game. The Quakers would increase that lead to as many 26, while going into the locker room with a 24-point, 41-17 lead.

In the second half the Lady Quakers led by as many as 51 with 13:07 left in the game before the Saints closed the defecit to 39 by the end of the game.

Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) recorded a double-double for the Lady Quakers scoring 19 and grabbing 11 rebounds. Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) chipped in with 12 points, and nine rebounds in the victory. Woodruff also dished out six assists while Shari Stauffer (Versailles/Versailles) pulled down 10 rebounds in the contest. A total of 14 Lady Quakers scored in the 39-point victory.

Holly Roberts, Jodi Schroeder, and Joanna Bess each scored eight points in the game, while Robers and Schroeder also pulled down five rebounds for the Saints.

With the win, the third ranked Lady Quakers improve to 2-0 while Thomas More falls to 1-1 on the season.

The next game for the Lady Quakers is on Tuesday, November 26 when they travel to Bluffton, Ohio to take on the Lady Beavers of Bluffton College with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.

In the consolation game the Bethany College Bison defeated the Lady Quakers of Guilford College. Four players for the Bison reached double-digits in scoring. Niki Babik led the way with 18 while Katie Hardie and Kiki Cohen chipped in with 17 and 16 points respectively. Hardie recorded a double-double for the Bison as she pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. A.J. Robertson scored 13 points to lead Guilford while Aftan Medley and Jennie Keicjline scored 12 and 10 respectively.

24th ranked Bethany improves to 1-1 on the season while Guilford falls to 0-2 on the year.
