Quakers rebound with win over Methodist

(WC Press Release) Wilmington, OH (November 22, 2003) ­ Following their 79-75 loss to Thomas More on Saturday, the Lady Quakers rebounded with a 65-46 win over Methodist College in the consolation game of the Damonšs/Wilmington Inn Tip-Off Tournament.

Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) led all scorers with 17 points on 7-14 shooting from the field while pulling down a team-high nine rebounds. In the two-day tournament, Rausch averaged 24 points per game en route to earning All-Tournament honors.

Also contributing for Wilmington was senior Emily Cummins (Springfield/Northwestern) who scored eight points including six from behind the arc, and freshman Kelly Peters (Spencerville/Spencerville) who finished with nine points and seven boards.

Poor shooting doomed Methodist as they shot just 29% from the floor, including 14% from three-point range in the second half. Jennifer Dollyhigh led the Monarchs with 16 points on 6-17 shooting from the floor. Center Meg Coe also chipped in with four points while grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds.

In the game, Wilmingtonšs defense forced 22 turnovers while out rebounding the Monarchs 50-42. With the win, the Lady Quakers improve to 1-1 on the season while Methodist falls to 0-2.

The next game for Wilmington is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25 when the Lady Quakers take on the College of Mount St. Joseph. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Fred Raizk Arena.
