Lady Quakers picked first in the OAC

Team gets six of ten first place votes

(WC Press Release) Twinsburg, OH (November 5, 2003) -- The Wilmington College Lady Quaker basketball team was tabbed as the preseason favorites in the Ohio Athletic Conference, earning six first-place votes and 78 points overall.

The Lady Quakers finished the 2002-03 season with a 26-3 overall record and 17-1 in conference play. WC has won two straight OAC regular season and tournament titles, while advancing to the NCAA "Sweet 16" in two consecutive seasons.

"Getting picked first isn't going to help us cut down on our turnovers", said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "I think the respect from the coaches is important to our kids. They know they have to work hard to repeat."

"Yes we have the talent to repeat," commented the 14th year head coach. "It's going to be very competitive. Our players are really looking forward to the season."
