Jerry Scheve named Columbus Dispatch women's Ohio Coach of the Year

Scheve picks up 28 of 34 first place votes

(WC Press Release) COLUMBUS, Ohio (May 3, 2004) -- Wilmington College Lady Quaker head coach Jerry Scheve has been named the Columbus Dispatch Women's Ohio Coach of the Year, announced Sunday.

Scheve picked up 28 of 34 first place votes, getting 88 votes total. First place votes were worth three points, second place votes two, and third place votes one.

Maria Fantanarosa of Miami University finished as the runner up with 25 points and three first place votes while Jim Foster of Ohio State was third with 19 points. The next Division III coach was Pam Smith of Wittenberg who finished fourth with 14 points.

Scheve led the team to their first even National Championship in 2003-04, defeating previously undefeated and unanimous #1 Bowdoin College in the Championship game in Virginia Beach, Virginia 59-53.

His career record now stands at 264-106 and has had at least 20 wins in six of his last seven seasons.
