STERLING,
Va. The post-season awards keep raining in for Wilmington
College senior Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy), as she
was named to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region squad.
Zerilla was named to the First Team All-Region squad.
Zerilla
has also been named a WBCA/Kodak First Team All-American candidate,
First Team All-OAC, a unanimous choice for Academic All-OAC
and a Josten's Award Finalist.
Players
were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information
Directors at the various schools. A record 606 players were
nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to
SIDs, who voted for 10 players in their region. SIDs voted
for six frontcourt players and four backcourt players and
the top vote-getters at each position were named to the All-Region
team.
Zerilla
ended the 2004-05 season with a scoring average of 11.3 while
pulling down 10.9 rebounds per game. She reached the 1,000
point plateau on 12/30 against Marietta and is the school's
all-time leading rebounder. Her 305 rebounds on the season
is the sixth best single season total in school history, as
she holds four of the top six marks. She is also 10th in NCAA
Division III in career rebounding, having pulled down 1,330
rebounds in her four-year career.
"We
are thankful to the Sports Information Directors across Division
III who took the time to nominate and vote to provide broader
recognition to these worthy student-athletes," said D3hoops.com
publisher Pat Coleman. "Participation continues to grow each
year and that only strengthens the team."
Zerilla
was joined on the first-team squad by Sara Heitkamp of Capital,
Leigh Sulkowski of Washington and Jefferson, Amy Argetsinger
of DePauw and Danielle Holbrook of Otterbein.
