TWINSBURG,
Ohio The Wilmington College Lady Quaker basketball
team put three players on the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference
squad, led by senior forward Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy),
who was named first team.
The
academic award winners are selected by the OAC faculty athletics
representatives. To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete
must have at least a 3.25 cumulative gpa, be a starter or
key reserve and be in at least her second year of participation
in the sport.
Zerilla,
who has a 3.76 grade point average in sports management and
administration, was one of four unanimous choices to the squad.
She was also named to the ESPN The MagazineŽ Academic All-District
team and was also named to the All-OAC First Team. She ended
her four-year career as the school's all-time leading rebounder,
with 1,330 career boards, while scoring 1,188 career points.
Her 53.6 % field goal percentage is the highest career average
in school history.

Sam Hood

Courtney
Balser (Pleasant Plain/Little Miami) and Sam Hood (Lockbourne/Teays
Valley) were each named to the Honorable Mention squad.
Balser
averaged a team-high 12.2 points per game while pulling down
4.8 rebounds per game and blocking 13 shots. The junior has
a 3.51 gpa in early childhood education.
Hood,
a sophomore accounting and business major, has a 3.71 cumulative
gpa. She averaged 6.0 points per game, while dishing out 120
assists, an average of 4.3 per game. Her 120 assists is the
eighth highest single season total in school history, while
her career total of 269 is the fifth highest in school history.
The
Lady Quakers ended their 2004-05 season with a 23-5 record,
was the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season Co-Champions
and runners-up in the OAC Tournament.
