Quakers advance with four-point win

and White rallies from 12 down to pick up first round win

Press Release) WILMINGTON, Ohio (March 3, 2004) -- The Wilmington
College Lady Quakers rallied from a 12-point second half deficit
to pick up a four-point, 66-62 victory over Albion College on Wednesday
evening.
Amy
Kincer (Englewood/Northmont) led the team with 20 points on 8-of-13
shooting in the game to go along with nine rebounds and six assists.
The
Britons and Lady Quakers battled for the first six and a half minutes,
as the game was tied for the third time at 13-13 with 13:25 to play.
Albion then opened a five-point lead and did not trail for the rest
of the first half, as the Britons led by as many as nine with 2:04,
before the Green and White used an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to
three heading into the locker room.
Albion
came out firing in the second half, with the Britons opening a 12-point,
56-44 lead with 12:43 to play in the game. The Lady Quakers clawed
their way back and took a one-point lead with 1:39 to play when
Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) hit a jumper. Over the next minute
the hosts increased their lead to five, with 21 seconds to play
in the game. Albion's Sara Caskey hit a three-point shot with six
seconds left in the game, cutting the deficit to two, but a pair
of Rausch free throws sealed the game for the Green and White.
Kincer led the way with 20 points while Rausch scored 16. Siobhan
Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) scored nine while Sam Hood (Lockbourne/Teays
Valley) chipped in eight points. Kincer pulled down a team-high
nine rebounds while she and Hood each dished out six assists.

Albion
was led by Caskey and Jaime Fornetti, who scored 19 and 16 points
respectively. Jocelyn Zappale pulled down a game-leading 12 rebounds
while dishing out four assists to lead the squad.
With the win the Lady Quakers improve to 22-6 overall while Albion
falls to 23-6.
The
next game for the Green and White is on Saturday, March 6, when
the team travels to Franklin (IN) to face off against the Grizzlies
of Franklin College.
