Quakers use balanced attack in 21-point win

Cummins scores 12 to lead the hosts

(WC Press Release) Wilmington, Ohio (February 24, 2004) -- The Wilmington College Quakers made their first step in defending their OAC Tournament crown with an 81-60 victory over Muskingum College on Tuesday.

A trio of Lady Quakers scored in double figures, led by Emily Cummins (Springfield/Northwestern), who put in a dozen for the victors.

The Muskies (11-14) started the game strong, scoring the first four points of the game, and held a two-point lead with 13:41 to play. The Lady Quakers then proceeded to open a 13-1 run to take a 10-point lead with 9:38 to play. The first half lead grew to as many as 17, as Amy Kincer (Englewood/Northmont) completed a three-point play with seven seconds to play in the half.

In the second half the Lady Quakers (19-6) increased their lead to 28 with just under ten minutes to play, and cruised the rest of the way in the 21-point win.

Cummins led the team with 12 points while Kincer and Brittney Morris (Hammersville/Bethel-Tate) each scored 10. Senior forward Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) was held to nine points, ten below her season average and the first time all season she has not scored double figures. Kara Robinson (Zanesville/Bishop Rosecrans) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Lindsay Mast scored 19 points in the losing effort for the Muskies, while Joanna Clark chipped in a dozen.

The next game for the Lady Quakers is on Thursday, February 26 when the team travels north to Columbus, Ohio to face off against the Crusaders of Capital University in the semi-final round of the OAC Tournament.
