Tara Rausch ties career-high with 20 rebounds in win

(WC Press Release) Wilmington, Ohio (February 7, 2004) -- The Wilmington College Lady Quakers used a 24-point, 20-rebound performance from senior forward Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) en route to a 69-55 win.

The Lady Quakers trailed just once in the game, when JCU guard Shayla Bell hit a jumper a minute into the game before the hosts opened a 17-2 run, taking a 13-point lead halfway through the first period. The first half lead grew to as many as 18 with 4:32 left in the contest before the Blue Streaks ended the half with a 10-2 run, cutting the deficit to 10 heading into the locker room.

The Lady Quakers scored the first five points of the second half, increasing the lead to 15 points. The second half lead grew to as many as 22 and ended at 14 at 69-55.

Rausch led the way with a game-high 24 points while Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) put in 13 and Amy Eichner (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe) chipped in eight. Rausch tied a career-high with 20 rebounds, 15 of which came in the first half while Zerilla grabbed seven as the team out-rebounded the Blue Streaks 51-41 in the contest.

JCU was led by Meagan Heller, who scored 13 points while pulling down a dozen rebounds for the double-double while Bell, Jessica Gibbons and Meghan Banks each scored eight.

With the win the Lady Quakers improve to 15-5 on the season and 11-3 in the OAC while JCU falls to 10-11 overall and 6-8 in league play.

The next game for the Green and White is on Wednesday, February 11 when the team travels to New Concord, Ohio to face off against the Muskies of Muskingum College with tip-off set for 7:30 p .m.
