Quakers score over 90 in second straight game

WILMINGTON,
Ohio The Wilmington College Lady Quakers picked up their
second large win in a row with a 99-68 victory over Mount Union
College on Saturday, after picking up a 41-point win on Wednesday
over Muskingum.

The
Lady Quakers opened the game with an 11-0 run over the first three
minutes before the Muskies clawed back with 15 consecutive points
from forward Ashley Bourdeau, giving the Purple Raiders their only
lead of the game at 13-12 before the Lady Quakers gradually increased
their lead for the remainder of the half, giving the Lady Quakers
a 12-point, 42-30 halftime lead.
The Green and White started the second half on a run, taking off
to a 21-8 run to start the period, and never looked back, as all
20 players on the roster saw action, 15 of which found the scoring
column in the 31-point win.
The
99 points is a season high for the Lady Quakers, as the team hit
36 of their 64 attempts for a percentage of 56.3 in the game, while
connecting on 7-of-15 three-point baskets and 20-of-23 free throw
attempts.
Courtney Balser (Pleasant Plain/Little Miami) scored a team-high
18 points while Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) scored 16 and
Katie Streck (Dayton/Carroll) 14. Streck pulled down a career-high
13 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double, as the Lady
Quakers out-rebounded the Purple Raiders 54-27 in the contest. Two
Lady Quakers, Zerilla and Sam Hood (Lockbourne/Teays Valley) each
dished out six assists in the winning effort.
Bourdeau
scored half of her teamıs 68 points on 16-of-22 shooting from the
field and 2-of-3 shooting from three-point range while Kyla Hogan
added 13 points in the defeat. Jen Brozak scored nine points while
dishing out a team-high five assists.
With
the win, the Lady Quakers improve to 16-3 on the season and 11-1
in the OAC while Mount Union falls to 4-15 overall and 1-11 in league
play.
The
next game for the Green and White is on Wednesday, February 2 as
the team travels to Columbus, Ohio to face off against the Crusaders
of Capital University in a crucial Ohio Athletic Conference match-up
with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
