Lady Quakers use 53-point second half in 10-point win

(WC Press Release) Berea, OH (January 24, 2004) -- The Wilmington College Lady Quakers rebounded from their fourth loss of the season to defeat Baldwin-Wallace by 10 points, 80-70 on Saturday afternoon, sending the Yellow Jackets to their second consecutive loss.

Amy Kincer (Englewood/Northmont) led the way with a game-high 22 points for the Lady Quakers.

Wilmington did not lead in the first half, as B-W jumped out to a quick lead in the contest. The game remained within five points until the Yellow Jackets used a 5-0 run with five minutes to play to give the hosts a nine-point lead, which would remain until halftime.

In the second half, the Yellow Jackets increased their lead to as many as 16 before the Lady Quakers used a 22-5 run to give them their first lead of the game, 51-50 with 8:39 to play in the game. The Lady Quakers kept their foot on the gas pedal, running the lead to 12 points with 49 seconds to play, as the Green and White ended the game with the 10-point, 80-70, win.

Kincer led all scorers with 22 points while Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) scored 17. Erica Smith (Englewood/Northmont) and Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) chipped in 15 and 12 points respectively in the win. Zerilla pulled down a game-high nine rebounds with Rausch grabbing eight, as the Lady Quakers out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets 42-26.

B-W was led by Lindsay Meek's 21 points while Erica Schultz scored 10.

With the win the Lady Quakers improve to 12-4 overall and 8-2 in the OAC while B-W falls to 14-3 and 7-3 in league play.

The next game for the Green and White is on Wednesday, January 28 when the team travels north to Ada, Ohio to face off against the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
