Lady Quakers win sixth straight in 21 point victory

Alliance, OH (January 11, 2003) ­ The Lady Quakers of Wilmington College used a balanced scoring effort as the team defeated conference foe Mount Union 88-67.

Wilmington (10-2, 5-1 OAC) never trailed in the contest, as they opened up an 11-point, 16-5 lead just six minutes into the game. The Purple Raiders cut the deficit to two with 9:41 left in the half before the Lady Quakers went on a run of their own, as they ended the half up by 11 at 37-26.

Mount Union (8-4, 4-2 OAC) scored first in the second half before the Lady Quakers went on a 20-4 run to put the game out of reach for the hosts. All 17 players that traveled with the team dressed, with 16 scoring in the 21-point victory.

Megan Woodruff (New Vienna/East Clinton) led the way for the Lady Quakers with 14 points while Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) and Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) scored 13 each and Amy Kincer (Englewood/Northmont) chipped in with 12. Zerilla grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds while Rausch had 12 as the Green and White out-rebounded the foes by 18. Woodruff dished out a game-leading eight assists while Kincer grabbed three steals.

The Purple Raiders were led by Nikki Scarpitti who scored a game-high 18 points. She was helped by Dana Robinson and Allie Graf who each scored 11 points in the loss.

The next game for the Green and White is set for Wednesday, January 15 as the team plays host to conference foe Otterbein College with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
