Lady Quakers use balanced attack in victory over Muskingum

 

New Concord, OH (January 8, 2003) ­ The Lady Quakers of Wilmington College put five players in double-figures as the team defeated the Lady Muskies of Muskingum College 94-74 in OAC action.

Muskingum (5-6, 1-4 OAC) scored first in the game before the Green and White went on a 21-5 run to open up a double-digit advantage six minutes into the contest. The first half lead grew to as many as 24, before the Lady Muskies closed the gap to make it a 19 point, 47-28 halftime lead for the Lady Quakers.

Wilmington (9-2, 4-1 OAC) scored the first four points of the second half and never looked back, leading by as many as 29 in the half, as the Lady Quakers ended the game up by 20 at 94-74.

Leading the way for the Green and White was senior point guard Megan Woodruff (New Vienna/East Clinton) who recorded her first double double of the season with 20 points and 10 assists. Tara Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) and Emily Cummins (Springfield/Northwestern) scored 14 points each as Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy) and Amy Kincer (Englewood/Northmont) chipped in with 12 points each. Zerilla and Shari Stauffer (Versailles/Versailles) each pulled down a game-high nine rebounds while Woodruff dished out a season-high ten assists.

Muskingum was led by Jessy Luster and Erin McQuaide who each scored 15 points as Heidi Van Dyke and Leslie Kimble each put up ten. Jessica Gates pulled down a team leading seven rebounds in the game.

The next game for the Green and White is set for Saturday, January 11 when the team travels to Alliance, Ohio to face off against Mount Union College with the tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
