Quakers run over Case Western 92-73

(WC Press Release) Cleveland, Ohio (January 3, 2004) -- The Lady
Quakers avenged one of their three losses from last season with
a 92-73 victory over Case Western Reserve on Saturday in the first
game of the new year for the Green and White.
Tara
Rausch (Marysville/Fairbanks) led four Lady Quakers in double figures
with 20 as Siobhan Zerilla (Cincinnati/Mercy), Samantha Hood (Lockbourne/Teays
Valley) and Amy Kincer (Englewood/Northmont) each scored a dozen
points in the 19-point victory.
The
Lady Quakers and Spartans went back and forth throughout the first
five minutes of the game, as CWRU held a 16-12 lead with 14:58 to
play in the first half. The Lady Quakers then opened up the game
with a 22-3 run to take a 15-point lead eight and a half minutes
later. The hosts cut the lead to 10 before an 11-2 run gave the
Green and White a 19-point lead, as the team went into the locker
room leading by 18.
The
Lady Quakers kept their lead, and put the game away 15-1 run late
in the game, and cruised the rest of the way en route to their 19-point
win.
Rausch
led all scorers with 20 points while Zerilla, Hood and Kincer each
scored a dozen. Erica Smith (Englewood/Northmont) added nine for
the visitors while Emily Cummins (Springfield/Northwestern) chipped
in seven off of the bench.
Rausch
pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds while Zerilla grabbed 10 as
the team out-rebounded their opponents 57-43 in the contest. Zerilla
and Kincer each dished out three assists, while Hood grabbed four
steals.
Case was led by Jasmine Rowan, who scored 16 points while Andrea
Haylett and Elizabeth Hahn each scored 10. Keesha Allen scored just
seven points, but pulled down 11 rebounds and grabbed a team-best
six steals in the defeat.
With
the win the Lady Quakers improve to 7-3 overall while Case Western
falls to 2-7.
The
next game for the Lady Quakers is on Wednesday, January 7 when the
team plays host to Muskingum College with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
