STERLING, Va. — Wilmington College junior post Kelly Peters (Spencerville) has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Second Team. Peters averaged 16.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game to lead the Lady Quakers to a 19-8 record this season.

"I think you can make a case for Kelly being the most improved player in the region this year," Wilmington College head coach Jerry Scheve said. "Where she came from her sophomore year to her junior year was remarkable. She's the kind of kid who would trade this award for a few more wins this year — that's her attitude. She really doesn't care about stats or awards; she just wants to win. I think that's a big part of what makes her so valuable to us on the floor. She came out every game we played this year and laid it on the line and gave a great effort."

Peters also has received All-Ohio Athletic Conference First Team and Academic All-Ohio honors. She continues a tradition at Wilmington, where at least one player has been named All-Region by D3hoops.com since the Web site initiated the awards program in 2002. Wilmington's Tara Rausch was a three-time all-region selection (2002-04), Megan Woodruff was named All-Region twice (2002-03) and Sibohan Zerilla was All-Region in 2005.

On this year's all-region first team were Leigh Sulkowski of Washington and Jefferson, Sara Heitkamp of Capital, Rebekah Forsyth of Rose-Hulman, Liz Bondi of DePauw and Lisa Winkle of Calvin. Joining Peters on the second team were Bria Ebels of Hope, Tish Hines of Pittsburgh-Greensburg, Amber Bodrick of Thiel and Jenny Place of Bethany. Third team selections were Shayla Bell of John Carroll, Lindsey Roberson of Franklin, Nikki Altenweg of Baldwin-Wallace, Kristen Sheffield of Denison, Kathy Hittle of Wittenberg and Danielle Holbrook of Otterbein.
