Four Lady Quakers receive
Academic All-OAC honors

Peters, Hood all-conference; Hauke, Streck honorable mention

TWINSBURG — Wilmington college junior point guard Sam Hood and junior post Kelly Peters were among four Lady Quakers who received Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors. Hood and Peters were Academic All-OAC while junior forward Katie Streck and sophomore guard Jackie Hauke were Academic All-OAC Honorable Mention.

"We always try to recruit kids that we think are going to be good players and good students," WC head coach Jerry Scheve said. "When they get here, we expect them to do well in the classroom. These kids are all outstanding students; they are all serious about their education, as well as their basketball. All four of these kids started every game for us this season. I think they're representative of the type of kids that we have on our basketball team."

Hood (Lockbourne/Teays Valley), who was Academic All-OAC Honorable Mention last season, is an accounting/business management major and carries a 3.71 grade-point-average. Her career plan is to become a certified public accountant. On the basketball court she was All-OAC honorable mention this season. She led the OAC and ranked 13th nationally in assists.

Peters (Spencerville) is an athletic training major with a 3.37 GPA. Her career plan is to enter the physical therapy field. She was an All-OAC First Team performer on the court. She led the conference and ranked seventh nationally in field-goal percentage. She ranked third in the OAC in rebounding and fourth in scoring.

Streck (Dayton/Carroll) is a sports management/business administration major and maintains a 3.47 GPA. Her career plan is to become an athletic director. She was an All-OAC Second Team member this season. She led the conference and ranked No. 30 nationally in free throw percentage and was among conference leaders in scoring and rebounding.

Hauke (Sardinia/Whiteoak) is a biology major and carries a 3.73 GPA. Her career options include entering the chiropractic field or product research and development. Her long-distance shooting put her among the OAC and nation's best this season. She hit 47 percent of her three-point attempts, which ranked her second in the conference and fifth in the nation.
