Circulation loan periods are three weeks for books and circulating government documents, with one renewal. Materials may be renewed online. Overdue fines are 50 cents per day per item.
Materials on course reserve are kept at the circulation desk. Reserve periods may be 2-hour closed reserve, overnight reserve or longer. Overdue fines are 50 cents per hour for late reserve items.
Borrowing materials and obtaining photocopies from other libraries is a privilege limited to students, faculty and staff of Wilmington College.
If Wilmington does not own the book you want, or if our copy is checked out, you may request it from OPAL. When requesting a book from OPAL, you will be prompted for your name, barcode, and PIN.
Your barcode number is your student account number plus enough leading zeros to make 9 digits. (You will not actually get a barcode. If your number is 11111, your barcode number will be, 000011111). Your student number appears on your course schedule and your student account statement. If you do not have it, check with the Evening College staff.
You will also be prompted for a PIN (personal identification number). You choose your own 4 digit PIN. It can include letters. It can be anything you choose, but you must remember it. The staff cannot look it up for you.
You will also be asked to select a pickup location. This is very important. The book will not be sent here if you do not select Wilmington.
If a book you want is not available from an OPAL library, you may request it from OhioLINK. The request process is very similar. You will first be asked with which institution are you affiliated. The correct answer here is OPAL. Wilmington does not appear in the list of institutions. You will then be prompted for your name and barcode number and asked to select a pickup location. The book will be sent to the Wilmington College Library in 3 or 4 days. You can check it out from the circulation desk for 3 weeks.
You can renew books once. Overdue fines are 50 cents per day.
Community patrons may apply for a courtesy card. A picture ID is required to apply. Courtesy cardholders may check out 4 books at a time. Cards are good for 6 months, and may be renewed.

The Watson Library exists for educational, not recreational purposes, thereby distinguishing itself as an Academic Library rather than a Public Library.
Watson Library prohibits the use of chat rooms and video games. Patrons wishing to gain internet access for such recreational uses are directed to the Wilmington Public Library.
A variety of current newspapers and magazine subscriptions are available for perusal during regular library hours.
The library subscribes to approximately 400 periodical titles, with some of them being bound into volumes. Some of the periodicals are backed up by microfilm and microfiche. There are also subscriptions to urban / regional / international newspapers. All periodicals, including current and bound volumes, are for use only in the library and do not circulate.
The library qualified in 1986 as an official depository for free government publications coming from various government agencies and departments. The library currently selects 12 percent of all government publications that are offered. The selected items come in different formats: paper sheets, books, pamphlets, maps, posters, and microfiche.
