Wilmington College-Community Summer Theatre will celebrate its 35th anniversary season with the musical production of “Bye Bye Birdie” the last two weekends in July. Open casting auditions are set for 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, May 27, and 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, at the Hugh G. Heiland Theatre in WC’s Boyd Cultural Arts Center.

Wilmington College Theatre will present American playwright Sam Shepard’s dark comedy "True West" March 1, 2 and 3, at 7:30 p.m., the Hugh G. Heiland Theatre. Shepard examines the paradox of the American West through the relationship between brothers Austin and Lee.

When Mark Lunsford first appeared on stage during his first semester at Wilmington College in fall 2003, he had no idea the Hugh G. Heiland Theatre would become his home for the next four years.

Wilmington College Theatre will present Bertolt Brecht’s antiwar musical play "Mother Courage and Her Children" Nov. 16, 17 and 18, at 7:30 p.m., in the Hugh G. Heiland Theatre. Considered to be among German playwright/poet Brecht’s most powerful works, this seminal war saga is full of larger-than-life characters, exciting action and some of the most haunting moral dilemmas of theatre.

This summer the company will expand its repertoire once again as it presents Stephen Sondheim’s "A Little Night Music" July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22, at 7:30 p.m., in the Hugh G. Heiland Theatre.
