Summer Orientation Your Passport to Success New WC Students,
Your great voyage is about to begin. There are many important things to address in order to begin a successful journey. Summer Orientation is the place to start. Summer Orientation, Your Passport to Success, is required for all new freshmen and is the first of a 2-step process at Wilmington College. During the Summer “O” program, you will schedule fall classes with an academic advisor, activate your computer accounts, have student IDs made, and learn about crucial student support services. The second step is our extensive fall New Student Orientation that begins on August 16th. Information and schedules regarding the fall program will be available during the summer program.
While parents are not required to attend the Summer “O”, past families indicated the program eased anxiety, provided them with a “sneak peak” into the classroom, and provided ample opportunities to discuss concerns and have their questions answered. While you are busy with your activities, they will learn about important issues and services related to academic success, financial aid, involvement and student activities, and athletics.
Reservations are required and will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited to 80 students each program. The program will run from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. (You must be able to stay the entire time.) Select from the following dates:
Wednesday, June 20, 2007 Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Friday, June 22, 2007 Tuesday, August 7, 2007
Reservation forms/info will be sent to you once you have paid your enrollment deposit . Please return the Reservation Form to the Office of Admission along with your Class Registration Forms. The cost of “Summer O” is $50.00 per student and includes 2 family members. Additional family members may attend at $20.00 per person. This fee covers program materials, food and beverages. We understand there may be scheduling difficulties, therefore if you have questions regarding the Summer “O” program, please feel free to contact Tara Lydy at 937-382-6661, ext. 261.
NOTE: Students who fail to attend a Summer “O” program will have their class schedules created in-house the day before classes begin with what few class offerings remain.
