About the Program
The New Horizons program is a new initiatve to afford students the opportunity to explore a variety of areas around community service. The program will expose students to a variety of local agencies, which serve a broad population with a variety of issues. Students selected for the program will gain an understanding of community serivce and service learning while learning about the theory behind such disciplines. Reflective activites will serve as a crucial component to the program and will provide a unique aspect at weekly team meetings.
Upon completion of the New Horizons program, students will receive a $1000.00 voucher from AmeriCorps*. (please note this is a taxable award) This voucher may be applied to student loans after graduation, or outstanding schools bills. It is advised that these vouchers are held until after graduation as to not affect your financial aid award. This program is renewable for up to 2 years.
Who Can Apply?
- First Generation College Students (a student who is the first in his/her family to attend college)
- And/or a student who has received the Pell Grant.
