Fall Orientation August 16-19, 2007

Below is the Required Fall Orientation program schedule for all entering first-year WC students. (Transfer students with 24+ hours are invited to attend the 4-day program, but are not required. Please see the Transfer Orientation Schedule) If you have PSEO credits, you ARE REQUIRED to attend the 4-day program. All commuters and residential students should make arrangements to attend the entire 4-day program.

Thursday, August 16th

8:45 am - 2:00 pm	Residential Student Orientation Check-in and Residence Hall Move-In (Under tents in front of Pyle Center)
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm	Commuting Student Orientation Check-In (Under tents in front of Pyle Center)
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm	O-Town (Under Large Tent on Collett Mall) Featuring Representatives from campus organizations, local banks and businesses. Taste some of the local flavor, pick up freebies and take a moment to relax. Free for the whole family!	Commuter Welcome “The Life of a Commuter” (Mason Center located in Kettering Hall and Commuter House, College Street)
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm	Make-up session for Computer Account Activation (RCC Computer Lab)
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm	All-Class Welcome/Sign-In at the “Rock” Take part in the WC tradition as you sign-in with the class of 2009
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm	Family Farewell Dinner (Presidnet's House, Front Lawn, located on Elm Street, next to the Hazard Arboretum) Say your last minute good-byes and enjoy a free themed dinner under the tent with your student.
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm	Orientation Group Formation (President's House)
7:30 pm-8:00pm	The Safety Dance. . .What’s it all about? Come and learn important strategies to keep yourself safe on campus. (TOP of Pyle)
8:30 pm - 9:45 pm	Playfair (Collette Mall) The most popular campus attraction in the history of New Student Orientation. It’s totally unlike anything else you have ever experienced.
10:00 pm - 11:00 pm	Residence Hall Floor Meetings (Meet your RA on your floor)	Commuting Students are free to go. We will see you again in the morning.

Friday, August 17th

7:45 am – 8:45 am	Breakfast (TOP, Main Dining Room) Meet with your OA, Go over Advising Locations and line up for Convocation.
9:00 am – 10:00 am	New Student Convocation All New Students will gather together with Faculty and Staff in the Hugh Heiland Theatre, located in the Boyd Cultural Arts Center (BCAC) for a formal induction into the class of 2009.
10:00 am – 11:00 pm	Academic Advising (various locations, please check with your OA)
11:00 am - 12:00 pm	The Ultimate Road Trip (BCAC, Heighland Theatre) Through high energy and interactive games, Making College Count. . .The Ultimate Road Trip will introduce you to vital concepts and informative tips for success in the classroom, organizations and ultimately your career.
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm	Lunch on the Lawn. . . A Unique Aspect of WC Meet a select group of Faculty and Staff as they share personal stories and reflections about their experience at a Quaker College.
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm	Scavenger Hunt Find your way around campus, put a name with a face, and pick up brochures and great info about a wealth of resources WC has for you. Grand Prize: Each member of the winning team will receive a basket of WC goodies and gift certificates!
2:15 pm – 3:15 pm	Break Out Sessions on various topics
3:15 pm - 3:45 pm	Afternoon Break
3:34 pm-4:45 PM	FACEBOOK The Good, The Bad and The Ugly! McCoy Room, Kelly Center
5:00 pm – 6:30 pm	Dinner (TOP, Main Dining Room)
6:30 pm – 7:45 pm	Trip to Wal-Mart/Staples/Krogers to get those last minute “must-haves” Vans leave from Pyle Center.
8:00 pm - 10:00 pm	Party in the Park and the Ultimate Glow Games! (Southeast Neighborhood Park) Hear the best DJ in town! This is a great time to meet new people and dance off stress.

Saturday, August 18th

8:00 am - 9:00 am	Breakfast (TOP Main Dining Room)
9:00 am - 12:00 pm	Into the Streets. . .Your First College Service Experience Come meet others with similar interests and get your first WC T-shirt. This is your chance to make a mark on the greater Wilmington community. A variety of projects will be available from cleaning up parks and sorting clothes to painting and recycling.
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm	Lunch in the TOP
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm	Orientation Olympics (Collett Mall) Sack races, leap frog, water balloons and more, grab your new friends and see what’s in store.
3:00pm - 4:00pm	Survival of the Fittest (Collett Mall) Don’t miss this exciting and thought provoking activity that will “wet” your appetite for college and involvement.
4:00 pm - 4:30 pm	Back to the Future (TOP Main Dining Room) We want to find out more about you and give you a chance to make a wish. Meet with your OA, complete the CIRP Survey and Letter to Self
4:30 pm - 5:00 pm	Free Time: Clean-up, Shower and Get Ready for Dinner
4:30 pm - 5:00 pm	Optional: Guided Tour of Academic Classrooms Meet Individual Guides to help you locate your classes. Walk the campus and map out your path before classes begin. Bring your class schedule with you.
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm	“Name That Tune” Themed Dinner (TOP Main Dining Room)
7:30 pm - 8:30 pm	Comedy Hour with Michael Dean Ester (TOP Main Dining Room) Grab hold of your seat and get ready to laugh!
8:00 pm - 10:00 pm	Social Event TBA
10:00 pm - 1:00 am	Late-Night Bowl (Royal Z Lanes) FREE BOWLING!!!! No need to bring a ball or bowling shoes, Just your college ID. Shuttle Provided from Pyle Center. Don’t forget to bring your evaluation! You might win a DVD player!

Sunday, August 19th

10:30 am – 12:00 pm	Developing Your Faith In College (TOP, Dining Room C&D) Join us for a little praise and worship, morning devotion and find out what faith groups are on campus to help you maintain your spiritual walk as a college student.
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm	Brunch in the Top, Pyle Center
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm	Alcohol 101 Understanding High Risk Drinking and the Student Code of Conduct (McCoy Room, Kelly Center)
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm	E.T.C. presents: The Dating Game Healthy Relationships and Sexual Assault (McCoy Room, Kelly Center)
3:00 pm - 3:30 pm	Snack Break
3:30 pm - 5:00 pm	I’m Different. . . (ETC Diversity presentation) (McCoy Room, Kelly Center)
5:00 pm - 6:30 pm	Dinner in the TOP You made it! Collect your Orientation T-shirt for not missing any sessions! Congrats on finishing New Student Orientation. Students on a meal plan should use their ID to swipe into dinner.
