Open Letter to Sigma Zeta Alumni from Rich Rhoads

Major Improvements Made to Fraternity House

August 24, 2007

Dear Brothers,

It has been quite an experience since the 100 Club was created by Stephen Scott. We have had so many positive improvements to the organization and the house. I personally want to Thank all that have given both of their time and money to help us provide the best possible resources for our active Brothers. The house is officially ours and this puts us in a new and unique position for both the Housing Association and the Active chapter. We can now focus our efforts on making this house into a home for the active chapter and the Brothers that wish to live there.

Currently we have remodeled all of the rooms on the first floor with the exception of the bathroom. The active chapter has suggested the need for another bathroom. I know this sounds like an unreasonable request at first, but if you look at the layout, it becomes much clearer as to why they need it. The bathroom downstairs actually supports 5 residents while the bath upstairs, supports one resident (since it is in his room). They would like to take the bath downstairs from one bathroom with a tub to 2 bathrooms with showers. I will get more detailed estimates for this from area plumbers, but the initial estimates are indicating the price to be approximately $5,000.00 with much of the demolition and rough buildout being done by the Active Chapter and the Housing Association. I ask for your support as we work to optimize the appeal of living in the house.

We would also like to Thank Everyone for their donations to the Rock Challenge. Once again the Sigs won the Fraternity Rock Challenge. Once again we had the largest percentage of Alumni that donated to the College Rock Challenge. The Kappas actually beat us by less than 1 % overall but we still came in 1st in the fraternity category. This has been the 6th year in a row that we have dominated this campaign. I ask that you continue the streak and send in your donation to the college as soon as possible. To make it even better for the Fraternity, your Rock Challenge donation can actually be made to go to the Charlie Hart Scholarship Fund. This is tax deductible, goes toward the Rock Challenge,  will benefit a future Brother, and can be given in memory or honor of anyone that you wish. There have been gifts given in memory of Jim Steele, George Roush, and Charlie Hart.

As always, we Thank You for your past support and hope that you will continue to show your support for both the Fraternity and the College.

Fraternally,

Rich Rhoads

P.S. There was a mix-up with treasurer Tony Mitchell's address in the last Sig newsletter. The correct address for mailing your annual 100 Club gift is: Antonio Mitchell, Hundred Club Treasurer, 932-A North Broadway, Lebanon, OH 45036-8677.
