Soccer tandem nets SAAC honor
October 2, 2012
Freshman Ashley Stockton and junior Antonio Trujillo
For the second time in as many weeks, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee came up with two worthy players for its weekly honor.
Women's soccer freshmen Ashley Stockton (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) and men's soccer junior Antonio Trujillo (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) were named SAAC co-Players of the Week after helping their respective teams to wins over Muskingum.
Trujillo had four saves, including a one-headed stop late in the second half to preserve the shutout, as Wilmington opened OAC action with a 1-0 overtime win over Muskingum.
In a game in which the Fightin' Quakers scored eight goals, it is a defender that shined the brightest. Stockton thwarted several Muskie runs that help hold Muskingum shotless in the first half. Wilmington recorded its eighth shutout of the season.
In recognition of the accomplishments, they will receive a T-shirt from SAAC, and their photos and list of accomplishments will be displayed in the lobby of Hermann Court.
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight about the student-athlete experience. SAAC protects student-athlete interests and provides a positive image of student-athletes.
