Brandon Arehart rips a single in the first game of Wilmington's doubleheader with Baldwin-Wallace.

Wilmington College dropped both ends of an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader to Baldwin-Wallace at Tewksbury-Delaney Field Sunday afternoon.

The 8-2, 11-4 losses drop the Quakers to 3-7 in the OAC, 6-17 overall. Baldwin-Wallace moves to 7-3 in the conference, 23-6 for the season.

“After winning two games from Otterbein Wednesday, I expected our team to come out and play well today,” Wilmington head coach Tony Haley said. “But that did not happen. We struggled in every phase of the game.”

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second inning of the opener and never looked back.

The Quakers got consecutive first-inning hits from Brandon Arehart (Wilmington), Austin Newman (Bethel/Bethel-Tate) and Bruce Dunlap (Circleville/Logan Elm) to plate a run, but managed just one hit — a Dunlap double — for the rest of the game.

In game two, Baldwin-Wallace scored in each of the first four innings to go up, 8-0.

Newman doubled and scored on a single as the Quakers broke the ice in the fourth inning.

Dunlap brought home another run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and the Quakers added two more in the ninth.

Newman doubled twice and Hunter Justus (Circleville/Logan Elm) had two singles for Wilmington, which finished the game with 11 hits.

Wilmington will hit the OAC highway Tuesday for a doubleheader at Ohio Northern. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
