DELAWARE, OH - A slow start doomed Wilmington Tuesday as the Lady Quakers fell to Ohio Wesleyan in their final non-conference game of the season, falling to the Battlin' Bishops, 3-0.
"The bottomline is you can't dig yourself in a 3-0 hole and expect to win," said head coach Steve Spirk. "We weren't ready to play in the first half."
Ohio Wesleyan took the lead just 68 seconds into the game, and added two insurance goals within five minutes of each other in the 35th and 40th minute, respectively.
While Wilmington was able to unleash more shots, 17-14, it was the host Bishops that netted more quality attempts. OWU had nine shots on goal compared to Wilmington's four.
Junior Lauren Price (Xenia, OH/Waynesville) scored her fourth goal of the season in the 47th minute. Her four goals ties her for the team lead.
Wilmington (7-2-1) will step into Ohio Athletic Conference action 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Charlie Gilhart Field.
