Mason Metts had Top-10 finishes in the weight throw and shot put at the OAC Relays.

BEXLEY — Wilmington College competed in the Ohio Athletic Conference Relays, hosted by Capital University Saturday.

The Quakers finished seventh with 46 points. Baldwin-Wallace won the team title with 90 points.

“We just left a lot of points on the track today,” Wilmington head coach Ron Combs said. “At times you could see how much our team has improved, and at other times you could see our old team coming back. We’re just trying to climb over the hump right now.”

Brandon Bruner (Cincinnati/Shroder) was in on some big point scoring. The sophomore had the top individual long jump effort of 22-5.75 and teamed with Erik Svensson (Falkenbergs, Sweden/Falkenbergs Gymnakieskola) to win the event. Bruner also teamed with Mitch Howard (Germantown/Valley View) to finish second in the triple jump. Howard was fourth overall at 43-2.25 while Bruner was sixth at 42-9.75. Bruner finished fifth overall in the 55-meter dash, hitting the line in 6.66.

Mason Metts (Pomeroy/Meigs) and Michael Reavis (Huber Heights/Wayne) teamed to finish second in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put. Metts was fifth overall in the weight throw and ninth in the shot.

Josh Richardson (Hamilton/North College Hill) finished second overall in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing in 7.85.

“I think Josh can hit the NCAA provisional of 7.75,” Combs said. “People might have thought last week was something of a fluke, but he came back this week and ran faster. That’s the second fastest time in school history — only Kyle Wolf has run faster.”

Pat Carroll (Cincinnati/Purcell Marian) finished eighth overall in the 3,000-meter run and teamed with Brad Kline (Circleville) to finish fourth in the event. Carroll’s 9:12.48 was the third fastest 3,000-meter time in team history.

Nate Godby (Goshen), Richardson, Eli Carr (Lakewood) and Alek Erwin (Springfield/Northeastern) ran 3:48.24 to finish fifth in the 1,600 sprint medley.

The team of Kline (Circleville), Carr, Erwin and Carroll (Cincinnati/Purcell Marian) was sixth in the distance medley, finishing in 10:49.55.
