Addie Roberts and the Quakers were winners over Franklin College Saturday.
FRANKLIN, Ind. — Hannah Anderson was in on three race wins as Wilmington College posted a 129-73 win over Franklin College in a non-conference dual in the Grizzlies’ water Saturday afternoon.
“It was a nice win. We set the tone early by going 1-2 in the medley relay, and then just did what we had to do to win the meet,” Wilmington head coach Trip Breen said.
The win came a day after the Quakers returned from a week of training in Florida.
“We got home Friday after a 20-hour bus ride and a week of hard training,” Breen said. “We knew some people were going to be really sore and other people would be able to come out and swim really well — whether it’s confidence or whatever they gained from the week of training. It affects everybody differently, but I knew this would be an interesting meet. We’ve been on a bus for 26 of the last 48 hours, so all in all, I think the kids competed really well.”
Anderson (West Chester/Lakota West) touched first in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races and was in on Wilmington’s win in the medley relay.
“Hannah had a great day. I knew it was coming, and today was just a special day for her,” Breen said.
Liz Miller (Lebanon) and Addie Roberts went 1-2 in the 1,000 freestyle.
Victoria Burcham (Urbana) and Caroline Kruczynski (Grove City/Central Crossing) finished 1-2 in the 100 backstroke.
