Cody Skinner and the Quakers were defeated by Mount Union.
ALLIANCE — Wilmington College was unable to overcome a sluggish start as the Quakers dropped a 110-79 decision to Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet Saturday afternoon.
“We were a little bit flat at the beginning of the meet. Maybe you can attribute that to a long bus ride or just getting off to a slow start, but we started to swim better as the meet went along. Part of that was getting into the racing mood of things, and part of it was probably a little wake-up from me,” Wilmington head coach Trip Breen said.
Mason Harris (Westerville/Westerville Central) won two races. The freshman touched first in the 1,650-yard freestyle and came back to win the 200 butterfly.
“Mason had a really nice mile and then came back to win the 200 fly,” Breen said. “He had a nice meet.”
Alex Fout (Westerville) won the 50 freestyle and touched second in the 100 free.
“Alex continues to improve. That was his best in-season 100 freestyle,” Breen said. “His 100 just keeps progressing.”
Corbin Hellwarth (Celina/Parkway) powered his way to a win in the 200 breaststroke.
“Corbin struggled a little bit on his IM, but came back with an absolutely phenomenal 200 breaststroke,” Breen said. “We’re tired right now, but he got better every 50 in that race. It was probably the best race of the day.”
