“This was our first match of the spring and we came out a little shaky,” Wilmington interim head coach Jessie Carmack said. “We missed a lot of shots early on, but we got it together and finished strong.”
Jessica Veite and Jordan VanWinkle both were in on two wins for Wilmington.
Veite (Loveland) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over MacKenzie Boyles at No. 3 singles, and teamed with Erin Cane (Springboro) to post an 8-4 win over Boyles and Christina Tirpak at No. 2 doubles. Veite is now 3-1 in both singles and doubles action.
“Jessica played really well. She did a nice job of sticking to how she plays and really wore her opponent down,” Carmack said.
