Quaker Heritage Center Presenting 'An Evening with the Lincolns'
Fundraiser Includes Dinner, Dessert, Lincolns and QHC's Frederick Douglass Exhibit

The Meriam R. Hare Quaker Heritage Center at Wilmington College is hosting a fundraising dinner featuring guests of honor Abraham and Mary Lincoln March 2 at the historic General Denver Hotel in downtown Wilmington.
The event is designed to provide an enjoyable dining and history experience, and raise funds in support of having brought more than 250 local fourth grade students to visit the Quaker Heritage Center, where they spent much of the day immersed in living Civil War-era history.
Seating for “An Evening with President and Mrs. Lincoln” will be at 5 and 7 p.m.
The dinner will feature period cuisine prepared by the General Denver’s head chef, Jen Purkey, with a choice of two entrees, Chicken Fricasee, which, according to history books was Abraham Lincoln’s favorite, and Roasted Loin of Venison, purchased from local farms.
Dessert, also created in the General Denver Hotel kitchen, will be served immediately following dinner at the Quaker Heritage Center. There, guests can view the exhibit “Frederick Douglass, from Slavery to Freedom: the Journey to New York City.” The exhibit highlights key activists in the effort to abolish slavery.
The cost of “An Evening with President and Mrs. Lincoln” is $35 per person. Reservations can be made by contacting event coordinator Cathy Harrelson at (937) 382-6661 ext. 718. The ticket price includes a $10 donation to cover the expenses associated with the Quaker Heritage Center’s “Freedom Day” with fourth graders.
