AUSTINTOWN – After helping lead the Wilmington College softball team to its best spring break trip in WC fastpitch history, junior Danielle Monnier earned Ohio Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Monnier (Houston, OH/Houston) went 5-0 with a 0.80 ERA as the Lady Quakers went 8-2 last week in Ft. Myers. She yielded just seven runs, four earned, over 35 innings, with 33 strikeouts. Monnier hurled two one-hitters and a two-hitter in her five outings. It’s the first OAC weekly honor for Wilmington since March 15, 2011 when Kylie Ford was earned co-Pitcher of the Week.

“Danielle did an outstanding job,” said head coach Beth Floyd. “She was a leader on the field and set tone. She really stepped up and got off to a great start.”

Wilmington returns to action 3:30 p.m. Friday in non-conference action against Thomas More at the Wilmington softball complex. The game originally scheduled for Wednesday was moved back to Friday.
