AUSTINTOWN – For the third time this season, Wilmington College pitcher Danielle Monnier has been honored by the Ohio Athletic Conference for her work in the circle.

Monnier (Houston, OH/Houston) was named OAC Pitcher of the Week after going 1-1 with a save as the softball team set a new school record for wins in a season. In addition, Monnier became the school’s all-time wins leader (22) and established a new single-season record for wins (10).

For the week, she allowed three earned runs over 17.2 innings for a 1.19 ERA. In the loss to Otterbein, Monnier only yielded two hits. She finished the week with 19 strikeouts to push her season total to 90 and her career total to 273. Monnier needs seven strikeouts to set the WC record for most career strikeouts and 22 to break her single-season strikeouts record from last season.

Wilmington (18-8 overall, 4-6 OAC) returns to action 3 p.m. Wednesday, traveling to Ohio Northern. The Polars Bears (7-9) have won six straight games.
