Men, Women finish third at Franklin

FRANKLIN, IN - The Wilmington College cross country teams each finished third in their respective race as they opened the season at the Sodexo Grizzlie Invitational.

Sophomore Jenna Parlette (Miamisburg/Miamisburg) finished third overall with 19:17.52, while sophomore Tricia Steffen (Baltimore/Liberty Benton) came in six with a time 19:13.97.

Despite running without two of its top five runners, head coach Ron Combs was pleased with the how the team ran.

"It's just one race," said Combs. "It shows us where we are and that we have work to do."

Senior Brittany Gibbons (Pleasant Plain/Blanchester) finished 17th in 20:27, freshman Mary Ann Krebs (Kettering/Alter) was 30th in 21:25 and sophomore Veronica Burnham (New Richmond/New Richmond) was 36th in 22:09 to finish out the Quakers scoring.

Sophomore Rob King (Washington Court House/Miami Trace) was the top men's finisher, placing sixth in 27:32. Junior Miles Corcoran (Wilmington/Clinton-Massie) was ninth in 27:42, followed by senior Chad Hirschauser (Milford/Milford) 16th in 28:21, junior Alek Erwin (South Vienna/Northeastern) was 22nd in 28:35 and sophomore Jacob Boehm (Blanchester/McNicholas) rounded out the scoring with a 24th place finish in 28:50.

Both teams will return to action on September 15th at Cedarville.
