Larry Howard Named Collegiate Athletic Trainer of the Year
Award to Be Presented at Ohio Athletic Trainers Association's May Meeting

The Ohio Athletic Trainers Association named Wilmington College's Larry Howard Collegiate Athletic Trainer of the Year. He will be formally recognized at OATA’s annual meeting May 7.
Howard, program director for athletic training at Wilmington College, graduated from WC in athletic training and has been on the AT faculty since 1988. He is currently an associate professor.
He has a master of arts degree in education from the University of South Florida.
During Howard’s more than 20 years on the athletic training faculty, he has played a paramount role in WC’s program growing to become one of the nation’s most respected. AT students have presented research on the state and national levels and the College’s athletic training Quiz Bowl team — coached by Howard — won state titles in 2006, 2009 and 2010.
A certified athletic trainer, Howard also is a licensed athletic trainer in Ohio, a clinical instructor educator and is certified by the American Red Cross in first aid, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, professional rescue, automated external defibrillation and oxygen administration.
Also, he is an accreditation site visitor with the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
Howard has been an OATA District Board representative since 2008 and co-chaired its 2008-09 state meeting and symposium.
He has published his research extensively and has presented numerous workshops and sports medicine seminars on issues related to athletic training.
