AUSTINTOWN — Sophomore Corbin Hellwarth has been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference At-Large Team.

The academic award winners are selected by OAC faculty representatives. To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least his second year of participation in the sport.

Hellwarth (Celina/Parkway) has made a huge impact in the pool and the classroom, where he maintains a 4.0 GPA as an agriculture business major.

In the water, Hellwarth was an All-OAC performer earlier this year with a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. He also was a member of the team record-setting 200- and 400-yard medley relays.

“About the only fault Corbin has is that he is sometimes too humble, that he doesn’t understand how positive an influence he can be. He is an extraordinary kid. He does it in the classroom and in the water. He studies exceptionally hard and he trains exceptionally hard. He is a great kid,” Wilmington head coach Trip Breen said.
