Wilmington College’s Harcum Art Gallery will host an exhibit featuring works by local artists associated with Pieces of heArt Studio June 12 through July 22.

The opening reception, which will be held June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., will feature refreshments and an opportunity to meet the artists. Harcum Gallery is located in the Oscar F. Boyd Cultural Arts Center at College and Douglas streets.

Normal gallery hours are weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and by special appointment arranged by Hal Shunk, gallery curator and professor of art.

The artists are part of Pieces of heArt Studio, which was launched by Orion Inc., under the direction of studio coordinator Jennifer Steele, in support of and service to local artists with disabilities.

Orion, which is associated with the Nike Center, seeks to secure and coordinate work opportunities for the center’s clients.

The artists have worked in numerous mediums to create often “thought-provoking, whimsical, funky art,” according to Steele. Both individual and collaborative pieces will be part of the exhibit, and most of the works will be for sale with proceeds to benefit both the artists and the Orion/Nike Center.
