WILMINGTON - The Wilmington College football team suffered a 54-10 loss to Otterbein Saturday in the home and Ohio Athletic Conference opener at Williams Stadium.

Junior quarterback Brandon Minor (Cincinnati, OH/Reading) brought a little to the Quakers offense late in the third quarter when he came on in relief of starter Brandon Arehart (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington).

Minor put together a couple nice drives in the fourth quarter and eventually led the Quakers to their lone touchdown of the game. He culminated a six-play, 53-yard drive with a one-yard quarterback sneak. Wilmington added the two-point conversion as Minor connected with junior receiver Antonio Turner (Gahanna, OH/Gahanna Lincoln).

Prior to the scoring drive, Minor was putting together a drive - but it came to an end with an interception at the one yardline. Coincidently, it led to Wilmington's first score of the game. On Otterbein's first play following the interception, senior Gabe Smith (Harrod, OH/Upper Scioto Valley) and junior Matt McFadden (Sabina, OH/East Clinton) combined to tackle the Cardinal ballcarrier in the endzone for a safety.

Wilmington showed some promise on the OC first drive, the forced a turnover on downs when sophomore Aaron Day (Cincinnati, OH/Walnut Hills) and junior safety Trevor Hooker (New Port Richey, FL/River Ridge) stopped quarterback Aaron Kingcade for no gain on a fourth down and one run. However, the Cardinals scored on their next three drives, then added two straight defensive scores to take the 34-0 lead into halftime.

Minor finished the game 10-of-17 for 112 yards with one interception and the aforementioned rushing score. Junior Malcolm Turner (Gahanna, OH/Gahanna Lincoln) led the team with 44 yards receiving on two catches.

Wilmington (0-2 overall, 0-1 OAC) will stay at home to face Heidelberg 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Williams Stadium.
