Delehanty sets new PR

Liz Delehanty set a new PR in the pole vault Friday.
CEDARVILLE – Senior Liz Delehanty set a new personal record as the Wilmington indoor track team competed in the Cedarville Indoor Invitational Friday.
Delehanty (Euclid, OH/Villa Angela-St. Joseph’s) established the new personal mark in the pole vault with a distance of 10-11.75. Combs added it was the second best vault in the Ohio Athletic Conference this season.
Senior Mason Metts (Pomeroy, OH/Meigs) won the shot put, setting a new meet record with a throw of 51-10.50. The previous mark of 51-02.25 was set in 2008. The Fightin’ Quakers added three more event victories in earning the third-place finish.
Derek Kilgo (Charlotte, NC/North Royalton) won the 200 in 23.12, while sophomore Jake Sydnor (Batavia, OH/Clermont Northeastern) was second in the 200 with a time of 23.29. Kilgo added a fourth-place finish in the 55 in a time of 6.73. Junior Graham Morgan (Lebanon, OH/Lebanon) almost eclipsed his personal best with a vault of 14-03.25 in winning the pole vault.
In his only his second day of training, junior Christian Patterson (Cincinnati, OH/Norwood) won the high jump with a distance of 6-06.25. Combs added that Patterson had three nice attempts at 6-08, a mark needed to reach the NCAA indoor championships. Patterson, who is also on the men’s basketball team, will have at least one more attempt at qualifying for the championships.
Junior Alek Erwin (Springfield, OH/Northeastern) set a new personal record in the mile, finishing third with a time of 4:26.14.
Wilmington returns to the track February 9 in the All-Ohio championships at Otterbein University.
