Creech, Roberts post wins; WC battles John Carroll
Quakers drop OAC dual

Julie Creech heads toward victory in the 100-meter butterfly.
Julie Creech and Addie Roberts picked up race wins as Wilmington College battled John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference pool dual at the WC Natatorium Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Streaks won the meet, 134-71.
“This is a tough time of the year to have a meet,” Wilmington head coach Trip Breen said. “It’s the end of the academic semester, so everybody is a little bit stressed out. Taking that into consideration, I thought we swam pretty well.”
Creech (Dayton/Centerville) won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:09.01.
“Julie had a nice 100 butterfly, probably her fastest in-season 100 fly,” Breen said. “She has been struggling to put together a total race, but she definitely did it today.”
Roberts (Franklin) won the 400 freestyle with a time of 5:00.26.
“Addie has been sick all week, but came in today and had a pretty good 800 and won the 400. To do that after a week like she had is a great accomplishment.” Breen said.
Liz Miller (Lebanon) touched second in the 800 freestyle.
“Liz just keeps on rolling,” Breen said. “She had a great 800, and I think it’s comparable to her mile of last week.”
The Quakers will be singularly focused on training until returning to competition at Franklin on Jan. 9.
“This is the put-up or shut-up time of the year,” Breen said. “After this semester is over, everyone gets a little bit of a break. But once we go to Florida for training, we have to be all business the rest of the year. You have to find a way to make yourself look forward to the challenge, look forward to the training, because you know the benefits are going to happen.”
