The Quakers ran to a seventh-place finish at the OAC Championship.
LIMA — Pat Carroll ran to all-conference honors as Wilmington College competed in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship at Lost Creek Golf Course Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers finished seventh in the team standings with 168 points. Ohio Northern won the team title with 43 points.
“We had some factors working against us, but we can’t look for excuses,” Wilmington head coach Ron Combs said. “Every other team has gone through what we’ve gone through with sickness and nagging injuries. I was disappointed with our effort today. We tapered our kids for the regional, not this meet, so hopefully that will pay for us in a couple weeks.”
Carroll (Cincinnati/Purcell Marian) continued his monster senior season with a first team, third-place overall finish, covering the 8k course in 26:02.
“That was just a great race by Pat. He said he felt flat today, but he finishes third in the conference meet. He was 11th last year, but has become a much more complete runner in the past year. I am hoping that he has something special left for the regional meet,” Combs said.
Myles Corcoran (Wilmington/Clinton-Massie) finished 38th overall in 27:18.
Rob King (Washington Court House/Miami Trace) was 48th in 27:31.
Alek Erwin (South Vienna/Northeastern) finished 49th in 27:32.
Brad Kline (Circleville) was 58th in 27:44.
The Quakers will compete in the Great Lakes Regional at Oberlin College Nov. 12.
