Wilmington College senior defensive tackle Donnie Ary has been named preseason All-Ohio by OhioCollegeFootball.com, the website announced today (August 1).

Ary (Jamestown, OH/Greeneview) was named second-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference for the second consecutive season last year. He led all Wilmington defensive linemen with 54 tackles and was second with 12 tackles for loss. His ability to absorb and defeat constant double-teams helped free up linebackers Gunner Calhoun, Jason Phillips and Nick Williams to make more plays.

“It’s a well deserved honor,” said head coach Stacey Hairston. “We are expecting a lot out of him. He is our leader on defense, and runs the defensive line. It’s great for him, and hopefully there are many more to come.”

Wilmington opens the 2013 campaign 1:30 p.m. September 7 by hosting Olivet College.
